A.S.Ram- an introduction.

Hailing from a musical family, i started my career as a normal stage singer at my age of 4 where i got the blessings to sing few songs of Maestro Ilayaraja sir. My father R.P.Arjun is a renowned stage singer for so many years and also a harmony singer with music director Mr.Deva for so many years but not pursuing music at present. My mother Smt.Saraswathi Arjun is a diplomat in Carnatic music from the Adyar Music College,Chennai and also a student of Srimathi.R.Vedavalli. My mother is a retired music teacher too. My father was the one who encouraged me on stages from 1991 if am wright. When i was 11 in age, i was sent in for learning classical harmonium from a renowned teacher Sri.Nithyanandam. I should here say that it is my blessing from the almighty that i have him as my Guru. Then by my age of 14 i started playing Light shows and simultaneously was learning Piano from The Royal Schools of London under the tutelage of Mr.William Charles. He who sensed a good talent in me (i believe) made me appear directly in to 3rd Grade exam and pass with distinction. Then my life moved on with both academics and shows along with grade exams. I also took part in few singing shows in TV channels as a participant during my high school level. I have also played over 800 light music shows in my earlier days for various leading bands in Chennai. Then it was my 2nd yr of college when i got an introduction with veteran mridangam player Sri.D.A.Srinivas through a show hosted by Sun TV then for colleges. Finding me out there, Sri.D.A.Srinivas made me a part in his fusion band called Paanchajanyam and launched me officially and in a proper from from light to Fusions. This made such a big difference in my career of course which in turn made me work with Legendary names in the classical industry including Sri.Dr.Balamurali krishna sir and Guru Sri Karaikudi Mani sir through the famous classical flautist Sri.B.V.Bala Sai. In fact i owe him a lot in my life time for the kinda opportunities and encouragements he has provided. It was November 2006 when i had the greatest opportunity one could ever dream which is working with Mallika-e-Ghazal Begum Farida Khanum of Pakistan. I need to thank Mr.Sriram Parasuram and Smt.Anuradha Sriram for the reference given by them about me. The most unexpected moment in the concert was when Faridaji made my introduction at almost the end of the concert to the audience in such a nice manner. She also personally congratulated me and said that she loved working with me which i feel one of the greatest blessing i have ever received. Then came the introduction of Singer Sri.Srinivas who in turn became my God Father. From 2006 till date i have been working with him on both his shows and his recordings as he is a wonderful music composer too.Similar to the previous one, i had an introduction with Mr.Manikanth Kadri (a wonderful composer and a human being) few months back through whom the veteran Saxophone exponent Sri.Kadri Gopalnath noticed me and made me a part in his team for his shows and also accepted me as his Sishya or Student from whom i am pursuing my further music studies in Carnatic music. I am also pursuing further studies in western classical music from a wonderful composer and music director Sri.Ramesh Vinayagam for whom again i am so thankful for having made me his student and being so kind towards me wright from the launch of Paanchajanyam when i had the foremost meeting with him. Apart from this i have worked on with reputed TV channels and production houses on many projects, with various leading artists on shows and recordings. Had worked in over 1200shows altogether i believe. This is just a small intro about me. I believe in the sentence that "I am a very simple and a normal musician who is trying to learn something perfect in this life". I sincerely thank each one of you for being so kind in spending your valuable time and reading my Introduction.
In wish for your support forever.
Yours Musically,
A.S.RAM.
